September 14, 2017 – Kelowna, BC – Gateway Casinos & Entertainment (Gateway) announced today its plans to introduce two of Gateway’s signature food and beverage brands to Lake City Casino Kelowna. The renovations will see the addition of MATCH Eatery & Public House (MATCH) and The Buffet, and a refresh of the gaming floor. The project will add new jobs and an estimated $3.6 Million investment to the local economy.

MATCH combines the welcoming and social traditions of a neighbourhood pub with the high-energy of a lively sports bar, MATCH is ideal for any occasion. This restaurant will be family-friendly, ensuring that guests of all ages will be able to enjoy the delicious and creative comfort food in the casual and upbeat atmosphere. MATCH has been introduced at Gateway’s three other Thompson Okanagan properties and has also been added to Starlight Casino New Westminster, Cascades Casino Langley, Chances Squamish and Grand Villa Edmonton.
Gateway will also introduce The Buffet to Kelowna. The Buffet offers great food at exceptional value in a casual, fun, and friendly setting. The Buffet is an occasion to indulge in a feast for your senses. An ever-changing menu highlights cuisine from around the globe and serves up something for every appetite. The 132-seat MATCH restaurant will take over the existing Gateway 21 space. There will also be some updates to the casino floor in order to accommodate the addition. The Buffet will replace the current Grove Bistro outlet.
The construction of the new MATCH and The Buffet are set to begin this month and will open in Winter 2017. The property will remain open for business, with minimal disruption to employees and customers, during the renovations. Gateway will begin recruiting in late September to help fill the new positions. June 4, 2020 – Gateway Casinos & Entertainment (Gateway) is excited to announce that select MATCH Eatery & Public House locations will re-open for dine-in and takeout service. Over the next couple of weeks, MATCH will be phasing the re-opening of locations across Canada, starting with Langley on Monday, June 8, 2020 and Courtenay on Wednesday, June 10, 2020.

Maintaining a clean environment is a year-round priority and it is regular practice to clean all hard surfaces, such as door handles and tables. Under the current environment, MATCH is being hyper-vigilant in our cleaning protocols throughout our properties to prevent the spread of transmittable illnesses, including COVID-19.
While things may look a bit different, your MATCH experience will be everything you remember. Guests will be able to enjoy the spectacular signature patios, each featuring their own bar area, booth and table seating, warm woods and signature red accents, and outdoor fire tables. Daily Happy Hour specials (starting at 4pm) and fan favourites like half-price Wine Wednesday and daily features are also back!
MATCH has implemented a new virtual queue system that will allow guests to text to join the waitlist and safely wait in their vehicles until their table is ready. “This system will allow our staff to properly prepare the dining room for each guest, and ensure there is no congestion at the entrance as guests wait to be seated, ” says Pollock. This system will also allow guests to receive the menu digitally on their own personal device.
